D E L I C I O U S food with an ambiance that is full of genuine warmth. First of all, that was the best pizza I have had in a very long time. As in, the last time I had such a delicious pizza was years ago and I want to say that was on a trip to Italy! ok ok, but you know what I mean & I am not exaggerating. The freshness of the ingredients and the crust itself was delectable and full of flavor. I do not recall ever sitting at a table wondering what kind of flour was used in a crust and how they got it to be the ratio of crusty to fluffy because the entire pizza pie hit the spot, big time. THANK YOU CITY HOUSE! Y U M! Finally, the service was excellent. chatted it up with the bartender, the servers and the management and they all seemed so warm and inviting. I know that is what is "supposed to" happen (supposedly) in restaurants but lets get real, its 2024 and people are nuts but these guys were so warm and jsut down to earth cool. Thank you for lovely evening, everyone at City House :)
Delicious pizza and pasta. Old house in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville. Cool atmosphere. Cookie plate for dessert.
While visiting a friend in Nashville, we made our usual stop at City House, our go-to spot for a girls' night out. As always, the experience was outstanding. City House has a unique approach to food, with dishes crafted from local farm ingredients, ensuring everything is fresh and full of flavor. The menu is always rotating, keeping things exciting, but they do have some staples that never disappoint. The pork belly pizza is a must-try, and if you add a fried egg on top, it takes it to another level--absolutely fire. City House continues to impress with its incredible food and lively atmosphere. It's a place we always look forward to returning to when I'm in town.
No question, best restaurant in town. So many cool tasty places open up around Nashville each year, and as the food scene continues to grow the older places kinda get forgotten about.....city house has been doing it right for years. I believe they started the food scene in town. Every time I come into city house for a meal I am reminded why they have been around so long and why they are the best restaurant in town. Keep it up CH.
Always going to be on my list when I visit Nashville, for the great pizza, kind service and understated and classy ambiance.
I recently went to City House with my partner for a celebratory meal. The service was attentive, and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu. We shared the kale Caesar salad to start, which was very good - you could tell the kale was very fresh. I had the roasted chicken for my main entree, which had some lovely heat from the Calabrian chili oil on it. The meat was juicy and tender; however, I will note that it was a fairly small portion size. I had the gin-based Biggie drink for my cocktail, which was good and well-balanced. For dessert, due to my gluten allergy, my only option was the sorbet sundae - and it was the star of the show. I didn't have high expectations - I usually want chocolate in my dessert - but the bourbon soaked cherries with the coconut sorbet were unreal. My partner had the panna cotta and we both agreed that the dessert was where City House really shines. The only downside to this restaurant is that it is incredibly loud.
We have been to City House twice now for Sunday Supper and both times it was clear why it came so highly recommended. On Sundays an ever changing menu is served and it truly seems like the chef is showcasing his talent for flavor, tradition, taste, and having fun with it. Standouts this time were the biscuit (outstanding), the pizza (wood fired), and the Sunday dessert cake which was strawberry meringue. If you can hit it when they have the waltz cake, DO IT.
Walked in late on a Monday evening with a party of three and were seated immediately. Our waitress was very sweet and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and specials of the day. We started with the Tennessee scrapple which was really good. The meat was very tender and had great flavor. For my entree I ordered the pizza special with pork, onions and an egg, my friends ordered the chuck steak, and another the mushroom and grits. Food came out quickly and looked delicious, but everything was just ok. I heard they are known for their pizza, but it was really average. I tried a few bites of the other food and it was good, but not great and my friends agreed. The star of the show was the cake. The flavors blended perfectly and it left us wanting more. I would 100% come back just for dessert and drinks.
City house has a simple elegance and doesn't try to be too posh! It has a cozy feeling with some of my favorite food in Nashville. The servers are warm, welcoming and always willing to answer questions or help you pick a dish, unlike many restaurants at a higher price point! The building itself is an older house renovated to a restaurant, which fits the Germantown neighborhood and gives you a taste of historic nature of some parts of Germantown. City house has an ever changing menu which offers a new experience each time you go! I haven't had an item I've disliked the handful of times I've gone. The dessert feature was a special Valentines Day cookie plate, which truly showcased the bakers skill! The pasta was delicious - hitting a variety of flavor notes and adding a bit of crunch with toasted breadcrumbs. I can't recommend City House enough as it's one of my favorite places in Nashville.
We really enjoyed our dining experience here! Food was fresh and well executed, beautiful space, easy parking, great service... We were especially impressed by the octopus dish. It was so soft and tender! The green beans appetizer dish was a lot smaller than expected but still really enjoyed the taste. The pizza was so great. I love the big thick heirloom tomatoes on it. Super flavorful from all the food ingredients. The pasta dishes were good but not mind blowing. Carrot cake was recommended by our server and it was really good. Very moist and soft. Would definitely come back if I had the chance!
